Golf Cart Lights & Street-Legal Equipment in Zephyrhills

A lighting circuit repair runs $75 to $150, a brake light or turn signal repair $100 to $250, and a full light kit install $250 to $400 plus the kit. This equipment matters for two separate reasons here: it is what F.S. 316.212 requires on any road a cart is legally allowed to use, and it is what most communities expect regardless of the state rule.

What the statute requires

F.S. 316.212(6) requires “efficient brakes, reliable steering apparatus, safe tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectorized warning devices in both the front and rear” on any designated golf cart road, which includes the Permitted Roads inside the Villages of Pasadena Hills under Pasco County Resolution 21-086. Night operation on a public road is allowed only where the responsible government has approved it, and only if the cart carries headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield, per F.S. 316.212(5).

JobPrice
Lighting circuit repair (switch, fuse, wiring, one lamp)$75 to $150
Brake light or turn signal repair, including flasher and switch$100 to $250
Full light kit install (headlights, taillights, brake lights, signals, horn)$250 to $400 plus the kit
Mirrors and red reflectors, front and rearQuoted, usually under $100 installed

Equipment is not the same as a road designation

Installing every piece of equipment on this list does not create a right to drive on a road that has not been designated for golf carts. Outside the Villages of Pasadena Hills, we have not confirmed a golf cart street designation anywhere in Zephyrhills or the rest of unincorporated Pasco County, so most carts here remain on private property and community roads regardless of how well-equipped they are. Inside VOPH, a cart still needs this equipment to use a Permitted Road legally, and the Resolution 21-086 speed cap is 30 mph. The full map is on the street-legal rules page.

LSV lighting is a different, longer list

A cart built or converted into a low-speed vehicle under F.S. 316.2122 needs headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, taillamps, reflex reflectors, parking brakes, mirrors, and a windshield, and must also meet the federal low-speed vehicle standard, 49 CFR 571.500. We install that hardware, but the titling, registration, and insurance that make a cart a legal LSV happen between the owner and the state, not through a repair visit.

Why this equipment gets checked on every visit

Corrosion from the area’s wet season, roughly 62 percent of Zephyrhills’ annual rainfall falls June through September, is a common cause of a dead taillight circuit or a stuck turn signal relay long before any bulb actually burns out. A lighting check is part of the tune-up service, and if a cart is heading toward an LSV conversion or regular VOPH use, getting the full equipment list installed in one visit is more efficient than fixing it piece by piece.

Booking lighting work

Note which lights or signals are out, whether the cart is used inside VOPH or another designated area, and whether an LSV conversion is planned. The repair cost calculator prices a lighting repair on its own alongside anything else the cart needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment does F.S. 316.212 require?

Efficient brakes, reliable steering, safe tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectorized warning devices front and rear, on any road a golf cart is allowed to use, including the Permitted Roads inside the Villages of Pasadena Hills.

Does this equipment make my cart road-legal anywhere?

No. Equipment and road designation are two separate questions. We can install everything the statute requires, but only a confirmed designation, such as the Villages of Pasadena Hills network under Resolution 21-086, or your own community's rules, decides where the cart is actually allowed to drive. See the street-legal rules page.

Can I drive at night with lights installed?

Only where the responsible government has approved night operation, and only with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield, per F.S. 316.212(5). Installing lights alone does not unlock night driving.

What does a full light kit cost?

$250 to $400 plus the kit itself, covering headlights, taillights, brake lights, signals, and a horn.
